Start with who is looking
A multiview display sends different images toward different positions. Moving your head changes the view, producing motion parallax without glasses. Looking Glass positions its spatial displays for shared viewing; its August 2024 announcement records the start of shipments for 16-inch and 32-inch models. That is a dated product event, not a promise that those exact configurations remain available today.
Sony’s Spatial Reality Display documentation describes eye sensing that recognizes a viewer’s position and optimizes the image. That is a different audience contract. A station designed for one tracked viewer should not be briefed as a crowd display merely because several people can stand nearby.
Resolution is not one number
The resolution of a panel does not, on its own, tell you how a 3D scene looks from a particular position. Ask how views are generated and distributed, where a viewer should stand, and what happens near the edge of the viewing region. Fine text, thin lines and small textures are useful test content.
For a design review, bring geometry that exposes depth errors: intersecting components, a hollow part, a transparent layer and a known scale reference. For an exhibition, test the scene from seated and standing positions and with someone moving past. The best display for careful inspection may not be the best display for fleeting attention.
Choose a deliverable your team can maintain
Agree whether the content arrives as a quilt of views, a supported model format, a rendered sequence or a real-time application. The supplier’s current SDK and export instructions are more useful than a general promise to support “3D.” Budget for validation on the actual device.
A sensible pilot ends with a repeatable update process: a new object can be imported, previewed, deployed and restored to the previous version. Compare the panel, compute requirements and ongoing content workflow together. A compelling demonstration is the beginning of that evaluation, not evidence that every asset will work equally well.
